LEC Officers Nomination/Election Process Timeline: CAT I
Term Begins: January 1, 2026
Nomination:
- July 4 – 180 days before the start of the term
- International Secretary-Treasurer notifies LEC President
- Membership Services: Sends educational/informational email/postcard to members about the new self nomination and election process.
- Locals’ newsletters to include info on the self-nomination and election process
- August 3 – 150 days
- Mail notification of open positions and self-nominating instructions
- Campaigning starts
Between end of September and beginning of October send email/postcard. Newsletters should include self-nomination guide and links to the election site (Officer responsibilities and Local Election page
- October 14 – 75 (announced close date, stagger Councils so they do not all close on the same day)
- Nomination petitions due to Ballot Certification Committee
- October 28 – 61 days
- Ballot Certification Committee completes certifying properly nominated candidates and their supporters (Update Locals’ Election page)
- Election ballots created.
- Voting packets created, proofed, and mailed
Election:
- November 7 - 51 days before the start of the term
- Election ballots open
- November 21 - 37 days
- Ballots close
- November 30 – 30 days
- Last day ballots can be certified by the Ballot Certification Committee
- December 1-December 31
- Reserved in case a runoff ballot is needed
